PAPREN was well-represented at the Active Living Conference 2024. Several hundred researchers and practitioners gathered in lovely Chattanooga, TN, March 25-28. We’re grateful that so many members and friends could attend and are excited about the number of new attendees to ALC.
The theme was Play Every Day – It’s the Multigenerational Healthy Way! This spirit was expressed everywhere, from PlayCore sponsorship and hosting of a social at the Creative Discovery Museum to scientific sessions, between-sessions fun to – of course! – the group physical activity breaks on Wednesday.

There were terrific plenary speakers from Chattanooga and beyond.

PAPREN members gave oral presentations, speed talks, and posters. We’ve gathered many of them in the list below for the benefit of readers who did not attend.

We hosted one of the lunch roundtables on Tuesday, and on Wednesday we convened a social with almost 50 longtime and new members!

We were proud to be able to sponsor travel to ALC by all five current work group fellows:

Left to right: Emily Kauffman (Parks & Green Space), Nicole Odell (Transportation Policy & Planning), Marilyn Wende (Rural Active Living), Nan Dou (School Wellness), Robert Anderson (Business & Industry)
The dates and venue for Active Living Conference 2025 were announced at the close of the conference. Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, will host ALC March 17-20, 2025.
